Mr. Antonis Koromilas, Modecular Biologist and its team working in Montreal of Canada, managed to decode the cancer cells. The research of Mr. Koromilas's team on mice unveiled that the cancer cells the soonest they affect the healthy ones, they "reprogramming" the stat1 protein which instead of fighting them, it helps the cancer cells to be reproduced and further expand. Mr. Koromilas studied in Thessaloniki and Tokio before his permanent residence in Mondreal in 1990.

Five Greek enterprises are included in the list of 1.000 European enterprises that are pioneers of the investments in the sector of research according to the recent publication of the European Committee (2008 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard). The five Greek enterprises are: the Intralot (545th position), Pharmathen (685th position), Zenon SA (719th position), Lavipharm (740th position) and ALTEC (921th position).
